Mississippi Registration Process

After purchase, register within 15 days. Go to Mississippi Department of Revenue with: bill of sale, proof of insurance, proof of residency, valid ID. Vehicle is registered and titled. Temporary tags provided, permanent plates mailed in 2-3 weeks.

Registration Fees

For new vehicles, expect $300-400 initially (includes title and registration). Annual renewal is approximately $150-200 depending on vehicle weight and value. Exact fees vary by county. We can estimate fees for your specific vehicle.

Required Documents

Original purchase agreement, proof of insurance, proof of residency (utility bill), valid driver’s license, lien release (if previously financed). We provide all necessary documents at purchase.

Annual Inspection

Mississippi requires annual vehicle inspection (safety and emissions). Inspections available at certified stations statewide. Cost is approximately $25-30. Inspection can be done before registration expires.

Renewal Process

Registration renewal notices mailed 30 days before expiration. Renew online, by mail, or in person. Annual fees are lower than initial registration. No inspection needed in renewal year if previous inspection passed.
